The SkyCaddie SG5 Golf GPS has a large screen (220 by 176 pixels) and displays all the information and graphics in color (in contrast with the SG4 that was a high resolution gray scale screen). It comes loaded with SkyGolf’s interactive graphic technology IntelliGreen.

A new and improved IntelliGreen Pro is currently in Beta Release and is available to the SkyCaddie SG5. The IntelliGreen Pro can help you map the different elevations (lower and upper levels, mounds and false fronts) present in the green.

Accuracy
The SkyCaddie SG5 Golf GPS is a leader in a line of products from SkyGolf mainly in part to its accuracy. And isn’t accuracy one of the main concerns on a GPS device? The SG5 uses the same GPS system used by the United States military and delivers an accuracy of less than 2.5 yards.
Digital Scorecard
One point that I want to make as there was some confusion before. Maintaining your score using the Digital Scorecard is a manual process, you need to manually enter your scores after completing each hole. The SkyCaddie SG5 will not automatically track your scores.
Shot Distance
To determine your shot distance, simply press the Mark button at the location where you start to take your shot to record your current location and then take your shot. When you get to the location where your golf ball came to rest, press the Mark button again to see the distance from mark.
Membership Plans
A membership plan is available that allows you to download thousands of golf courses. While some golfers don’t like the idea of a membership that is not included in the price of the unit, other golfers are willing to pay the extra price for the increased accuracy and capability offered only by SkyCaddie. You can also plot greens on your own if you do not want to take advantage of the membership.
Currently the membership allows you to access up to 30,000 golf course maps with advanced features like IntelliGreen Pro, HoleVue, QuickVue, plus critical distances to hazards, layups and carries.
CaddieSync
The CaddieSync desktop software enables communication between your SkyCaddie SG5 and your SkyCaddie online account. You can setup this online account for free. You will use CaddieSync to activate and register your SkyCaddie SG5, purchase an optional Membership plan, renew your membership, access and download your golf courses and more.
Theft Deterrent
Registering the SG5 electronic serial number (ESN) allows flagging the unit as lost or stolen and prevents unauthorized use.
